Donna Dease is a loving mother of two children, Patrick, a recent college graduate, and Morgan, a high school sophomore. In addition, she is the life-long partner of one of the world’s greatest assets, Colonel Charles P. Dease, an Army officer of twenty-five years.
Moving around with the military, inspired Donna to explore her creativity in multiple mediums. One of which, quilting, has proven to be her prime creative outlet. In 1999, while stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, another military wife, offered a free hand quilting course and encouraged Donna to attend. Immediately, Donna was captivated by this creative outlet and has stated on multiple occasions that her passion for quilting was instantaneous and has been non-stop ever since. ”Just like an artist I see it as the ability to create on a blank canvas with fabrics of all colors, designs and textures,” states Donna when asked about her hobby.
Donna learned to sew in high school and was taught to knit, crochet, and embroider by her aunts. Whether in a classroom or from a friend, she is always eager to learn.
About 10 years ago, Donna decided to turn her creative passion into a business venture providing personalized pillow cases, wall hangings, bed quilts, and the, ever so popular, t-shirt quits. “T-shirt quilts are one of the best keepsakes and a way to make good use of that drawer full of old t-shirts”, says Donna.
Currently residing in southeast Michigan, Donna continues to create with great passion, whether it be a t-shirt quilt or personalized wall hanging.
